Check out what all we did on Read Across America Day.
All the kids turned in awesome toy projects for our pioneer unit. I was so impressed with the creative ideas and all the hard work they put into them. I really enjoyed hearing about them and seeing how they each worked.
We had a guest speaker, Talks A Lot, come to our class and talk to us about Native Americans.
| We got to wear our PJ's and slippers to school. |

We had a guest speaker, Talks A Lot, come to our class and talk to us about Native Americans.
We got to hear about what Native Americans ate and how they got their food, what their clothes were made out of, how they got their names, what the kids did for fun and many other things. We also got to sit on a real buffalo hide, touch a deer hide, buffalo horn and hoof, and see a turkey feather.
During our focus period, students wrote and performed their own versions of the traditional fairy tales, Three Little Pigs and Cinderella.
Students are working on their first expository essay. Before they write they have to plan. We practiced all the steps of how to make a mud pie by making mud pies!
Here is a finished product of what our mud pies looked like. Yum!
Using soap, water and a cube, we investigated the question, "Is it possible to make a square bubble?"
Students wrote directions how to get from our classroom to another room in the school. Then they read their directions to a partner to see if their directions made sense.
